Label History The British company started in 1920 and was initially called …more Aeolian-Vocalion. The label design was similar to the already established American label and there were numerous catalogue series and owners over the next 30 or so years. The name and label design was so iconic that it has been revived on the LP era
In the 78 era, there were many series, especially in the early 1920s when the company was independent. As far as popular series go, there was initially the X- series and cheaper M-series. When the M-series was cancelled, the whole of the catalogue was transferred into the X-series, though these issues are rare, even for Vocalions, being as they were of popular music that was a couple of years out of date.
