The Rex label was created by Crystalate in 1933, with the first records being released in September 1933. All records were 10 inch double sided.  The series started at 8001 and ended at 10241 in March 1948. Crystalate commercial recordings were taken over by Decca in March 1937. The listings here are derived from the James Hayes listing of Rex by artists, downloadable on this site here.

Labels

Type 1 : Black Lions    Used on the earliest Rex Issues

Type 2 : Gold Lions Used during the Crystalate ownership period

Type 3: Three Centre Lines Used during the Decca Ownership until late in World War 2.

Type 2a: Gold Lions with Matrix Used in the later years of World War 2, probably to use up old stocks of labels due to war time shortages

Type 4: Red Label Probably introduced when stocks of type 2a labels were exhausted

    wes williams Apologies to all members for the number of these messages. I have around twenty files of listings to add for REX, so these messages will continue to appear quite a few times in the near future.
