Parlophone R100 Series
The purple / dark blue R100 series started in June 1928 and continued throughout the vinyl 45rpm era into the age of the CD single. R3000 numbers that had been used in the earlier X/E/R-3000 series were repeated once the later series reached R3200 in June 1949, by which time the earlier issues had been long deleted.
78rpm records issued in 45rpm format were originally released in a MSP 6000 series, but this was abandoned, and from R 4198 in August 1956 records were issued in both formats in the R100 series. The 45rpm records had the catalogue number prefixed by "45-". R 4539 was the first issue as 45rpm only, and issues in both formats became less and less frequent, until the last dual format issue of R 4623 in January 1960.
