The blogging habit

  • I just don't have the blogging habit - it's more a case of the occasional post when the mood strikes me, and usually when there's an update on my website. Well, the update's not quite there yet, but it's coming soon, with a Beethoven's Op.127 Quartet played by the Virtuoso Quartet, Grieg's Third Violin Sonata played by Marjorie Hayward (first violin of the Virtuoso Quartet) and Una Bourne, and an intriguing BBC library disc from 1950 of the Turkish violinist Fethi Kapuz playing two pieces by Hasan Ferit Alnar, with piano accompaniment by Clarence Raybould (which I'll also post here). I also have a rather bigger project on the go, in the form of an acoustically recorded opera set from around 1920, which is more of a challenge than the electrical recordings mentioned above.

In amongst all that, there are also CDs to listen to - I've been enjoying the Mitropoulos in Minneapolis CDs which I received for my postings here. Then there are the 78s which I've not got around to listening to yet, several of which are waiting by my feet as I type this - so they'll at least get digitised soon, even if I don't complete transfers for quite some time.
